Pelvic Cramping After Radiation Treatments Were Finished

Hello. My name is Monica. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in August. They found it while I was in the middle of surgery for a hysterctomy. I had 5 weeks of radiation and 3 implants done. My last one was in March. I have noticed that since my radiation treatments, that I sometimes cramp like I'm getting ready to start my period. But I no longer have a uterus. I am concerned about this. My lower back also hurts and I wake up several times at night due to pain in my hips. Can anyone help me with this?

Pelvic Cramping After Radiation Treatments Were Finished

Dear Rosie,

Thanks for responding. No, I don't feel better. But thanks for asking. I had a pap test after my treatments were over, and it was fine. Now I have had another pap smear and it came out abnormal. I had a biopsy last week and it showed more cancer. I am scheduled for a CT scan tomorrow. I have been cramping for a while now. I don't know if it is due to long term side effects of radiation, or if my cancer has spread. My doctor wants to do a pelvic exenteration which requires removal of my lymph nodes, bladder, rectum, and part of my lower colon. I am so scared! I haven't hardly eaten anything in 4 days and can't sleep. I am 41 years old with a 3 yr. old daughter. I am so afraid that I won't be here to take care of her. God bless. Monica

Monica

I am sorry to hear that you may have to have more operations. What chemo did you have - when were you first diagnosed?

I hope today goes ok - as far as ok can go, you are in my thoughts and prayers

Rosie

Pelvic Cramping After Radiation

I am so sorry to read about the new events occurring...I will pray for you. I also have sensations sometimes as if I am getting my period...underwent a total hysterectomy, radiation and chemo...forgot to inform my oncologist as other complications have developed...will let him know next appointment...it may be normal sensation...just thought I would share that symptom with you.
