Please can anyone help ?My 46 year old partner was diagnosed with myeloma two and a half years ago with an igg of 35 gl. Since then it has gone up and down and is currently at 40 gl, with bone marrow aspirate patchy and trephine at 20 per cent. He remains in general good health but the stress this is causing is pure hell. Each time we go to have his 8 week blood tests we are told something different.Even his notes have Mgus ? on them! On consultant said without treatment he would be dead in 18 months but he was told this two years ago and not much has changed. If anyone can give any comfort or advise I would be so very gratfull. Many thanks Gillian.

MM is something not to be taken lightly. go to the front of this site and they have someone who will talk either online or on the phone. They offer alternative as well as regular medical assistance.Diet is very important, lack of stress, and boosting the immune system. epicor is a great immune system booster, cutting out sugar is very importanr. Having vegetables and light protien and easily digested foods. Stay away from fruits heavy in sugars (They may be natural but the cancer cells love them).Juice carrots, celery and apple together daily alternate with asparagas, carrots, apples. Beets and apples. These thjngs will help. Mostly Mgus turns into MM but I think your docs are being a little to relaxed. Easy for them they are not suffering. I survived end stage MM. Anyway read as much as possible about your disease and alternate ways to boost your natural healing. Alll the best MMS

I would suggest that you obtain a 2nd or even 3rd opinion. I am experiencing the same. I was told I have MM, had a "plasmacytoma" radiated on my rib May 07. Now the same Dr's are stating they don't know what they radiated and have changed the diagnosis to MGUS. If there are any tumors present then that is not a correct diagnosis. I have traveled 1200 miles from home to get the 3rd opinion. I have extreme back pain (MRI shows 8 herniated disks) and the Dr's say "I don't know why you have back pain." This is coming out of the mouths of "specialists" in the hematology/oncology field. They ignore the requests for pain management, they give the test results incorrectly. What I mean by this is they tell me that the test results was negative (or inconclusive, sample not good enough etc) or that it showed nothing. When I get the results back the tests have a long list of items that need to be investigated. What I get from them is come back in 3 mos for retesting. Not acceptable. One thing you do realize is that once a cancer diagnosis has been made it can cause you to not be able to obtain life insurance, health insurance i.e.: pre-existing condition and in some situations can prevent you from obtaining employment. MGUS is present in everyone that is diagnosed with MM as the criteria for that diagnosis is elevated protein level in serum and urine,,. with no other symptoms. Find another Dr and quick. This is nothing to play around with,CK
