Hello...Please forgive my bluntness, but I'm surprised you're even writing this massage. Diagnosised a year ago, what on earth have you been doing for the past 12 months. My wife was given 4 to 6 weeks, others I know have been given 4 to 6months and you say diagnosised a year ago. And now you say the cancer spread to the liver and you can't confirm. I'm very sorry to hear all this. But something does not sound right.Good luck with what ever you plan for your sister.

RE: My sister and Liver Cancer

Hello, My name is Amy and I am a 36 year old mother of two. I also have cholangiocarcinoma. My journey with this Dx began Dec. 2007. My symptoms presented as exhaustion, loss of appetite with some weight loss, swelling in my upper abdomen. I thought I had experienced a gallbladder attack which is why I first went to my PCP on Dec. 11, 2007.Ultrasound and CT determined that I had 8 to 9 masses on my liver. The ER doctor questioned my use of birth control over the years. A biopsy of the liver was performed along with PET scan and every other blood sample you can imagine. It was determined that I had cholangiocarcinoma..cancer that started in the bile duct and yes, had spread to my liver. January 2, 2008 I had surgery to remove 80% of my liver, gallbladder (just because) and 10 surrounding lymph glands. As of 3 weeks post-op I feel great!! I am back on my feet, getting out of house each day with my only limitations being not lifting my children. I see my oncologist tomorrow to find out his plan of action. I am hoping that i will have few treatments since the majority of the cancer was removed with the 5 lb tumor! However, whatever needs to be done, I am up for the task. If your sister has not found a surgeon, let me highly recommend Dr. Robert G.C. Martin II, he is with University Surgical Associates in Louisville, KY. He has patients from as far away as California, one from France! I am nothing but optimistic and my prognosis! If I can be of any help please let me know. In the meantime a will keep you and your sister in my prayers! The Power of Prayer!!

Amy - would love to get in touch with you on your surgery. My father has cholangiocarcinoma and we have tried chemotheraphy at multiple dr's recommendation with little success and surgery we have been told is not an option.. I would love to understand if that is what you were told also and you pushed anyway. My Dad has several tumors in his liver and the start was the bile duct in the liver they believe.. it took a while for a diagnosis. My dad is 61 years old and strong and I want to be aggressive but we are getting a lot of no decision from major cancer centers.
