3rd Round Sutent

My mom has just started her third round of Sutent. Her first month she took it for 2 weeks, caught a cold/something viral and ended up in the hospital for three days and then continued 10 days later to finish the month. Side effects not too bad. Second round she went the full 28 days and had daily bloody noses, congestion, hand, mouth, feet and even belly button sores as well as extreme fatigue, loss of taste/appetite and low blood counts. She takes 50 mg and is not going to try two weeks on and one week off for the next six weeks. Is there any way that anyone has found to prevent the hand/feet sores? Does using the creams work as prevenative medicine?(she is using Aquaphor) Is anyone else having less symptoms with this type of dosage? Please let me know - thanks in advance. She will also go for a cat scan after the third round.

hello, i have tried Aquaphor but it will just moistened the skin but it will not ease the pain. Cold compress thru a cold gel ( I used ortho gel) and applied it twice a day ( especially before going to bed, it will relieve the pain.

Dear Juli,You might have your mom try 3 tablets of vitamin B-6 (100 mg) a day. I take 2 in the morning and one at night to try and help with the foot and hand syndrom. My sister told me about this. She has been an RN in the oncology field for 25+ years. She said oncologists where she works routinely have patients take these vitamins for the sore feet. It seems to have worked for me as my feet have only gotten inflamed and raw maybe 3 days each cycle. I also use Udder Smooth and Udder Balm (small green can) when my feet dry and sore. I am just finishing my 11th cycle on Sutent 50 mg on Thursday. Good luck!PS.. Have your mom check with her Dr first.
