Hi, I wanted to know if anyone out there has has their splene removed and is on w/w for indolent low grade b marginal lymphoma. I am upbeat sometimes and feel real depressed others. I am having a bmb and a pet scan in April and so far am just waiting and would love to hear from anyone who has the same. I was dx in 2001. Thank you so much

I was diagnosed with indolent follicular lymphoma 9/05. At that time, it was Stage III. My doctor recommended w/w, and not starting treatment yet. I am never sure if that is the correct approach. A lot of people get treatment immediately. My lymphoma will always come back. I have CT scans 2-3 times a year. Sometimes my largest lymph node will increase in size and the next time will be smaller. This is not typical of my disease. What is a bmb? I hope everything goes well for you. On 1/24/2008 laurita wrote:Hi, I wanted to know if anyone out there has has their splene removed and is on w/w for indolent low grade b marginal lymphoma. Thank you so muchHi there..bmb is a bone marrow biopsy..I also hope all is well with you! Since my diagnosis which was in 2001 I have had one pet scan and now it's time for another. What you and I have is indolent but they are quite diffrent. Watch and wait is the right thing to do because you still have a good quality of life. You start doing something about it when it affects your quality of life. I did get a second opinion and that dr said the same thing. The big thing was that I had my spleen removed and I felt betther. I would love to hear from you to keep in touch and see how you are doing. I am 54 with 2 teenagers!!...that is enough to keep me tired!!!! Laura

I had radiation on my neck at the very beginning in an attempt to cure it but it did not work... since then its been watch and wait.

I was dxed in April with this type of lymphoma, mine is in my breast and they are telling me it is in a very rare place...maybe 10 cases a year iin U.S.. I am presently on watch and wait...and trying to absorb the news. I am 50 with 2 sons. They tell me that this will not kill me and that I may never need treatment. Deb

Hi There,Recently my sister is been diagnosed with low grade lymphoma, she has enlarged spleen. The doctor is recommending to remove the spleen. From your experience and knowledge, can you let us know if chemotherapy is better to deal with it or spleen removal will cure the problem. Thanks for your response.Reddy

RE: Marginal low grade B Lymphoma

Hi there...if your sister has the same thing...Marginal low grade B Lymphoma....and an enlarged spleen....then I would not do chemo because It means that her cancer is slow growing and chemo does better when your cancer is fast growing. They took out my spleen and that was in 2001...I have had pretty good blood count and that is about it. All I feel is tired and I get my blood work done every 3 months. Please let me know how she is doing! That is all I did. I went to 3 oncologists and they all said the same thing. No chemo. Good Luck Laura
