Her health is good for her age other then lung problems. We are waiting for these tests before we can even get to an oncologist. We are working on it though. This has all happened within 1 week. What should we expect? if you have had treatment, would you do it again? What options would you suggest? Honestly how hard will it be on a women her age? She wants me to guide her in decision making....so I am asking for help from those who have walked this path. thank! She wants me to guide her in decision making....so I am asking for help from those who have walked this path. thank!I would not wait to make an appt. or demand a referral to an OB/GYN oncologist . . . unless that is an insurance requirement.  I am an RN, and a recent ovarian cancer survivor.  I can tell you that she will probably have a TAHBSO, they will strip the omentum, which is a muscle like sheath that covers the abdominal organs, this will be key in 'staging' her cancer. Depending if the cancer is bilateral or unilateral is also important.  She will probably be treated pre intra and post operatively for her lung issues. Expect things and request things move rapidly once you've decided to opt for surgery or other treatment.  I would definitely do it again, though I am 51.  Other issues to ask yourself is what is the quality of her life now, and what will it be post op. . . ask the doctor this . . she will no doubt be receiving chemo therapy . . .my physical recovery was uneventful. She will no doubt need an abdominal incision. I am overweight and despite my size I healed within 10 days and have had no issues . . . I lost my appetite for about 3 weeks, short of that recovery hasn't been bad. It has alot of 'what to expect pre and post op info there as well.
