sugar and milk

I keep hearing that milk and sugar promote the growth of a cancer. Is this an old wives tale without merit, or are there studies supporting the theory??Doing without them would make me lose more weight. Thanks, Alan

Hello Alan I hope you find the information of these sites helpful. There are much better ways to keep your weight at a healthy level than by consuming sugar or dairy.

Hi Alan,Little clinical evidence exists that milk actually increases cancer risk:-There is some evidence skim milk - but not whole milk - may increase prostate cancer risk.-There is no consistent evidence relating milk to breast- or esophageal cancer risk.-There is some evidence that milk decreases colorectal and bladder cancer risk.-I'm not sure about other types of cancer.-Up till now, I never read a clinical study which found milk to increase total cancer risk.I'm not sure about the sugar thing. Here's the finding by the WCRF (october 2007): http://www.dietandcancerreport.org

If you think rat studies are a reliable source of information, professor Campbell may have a point. If you think hundreds of thousands of humans followed-up for many years are a more reliable source of information, the WCRF has a point. Choose:1) rats administrated casein, or2) humans drinking actual milk.On 2/2/2008 Shemay wrote:Hello Alan I hope you find the information of these sites helpful.
Hi Alan Dairy products can be the cause of many health disorders not just cancer so I personally would not be taking a chance on them.http://www.pcrm.org/health/Info_on_Veg_Diets/dairy.html
There is also a moral issue on the animals treatment for profit.

Personally, I try to stick to facts instead of reading interesting sites trying to put things out of perspective. And personally, I believe one should always do a systematic review of the literature before drawing conclusions, instead of searching for studies which might fit your point in a discussion. From that perspective, these are systematic reviews of prospective studies relating milk to cardiovascular disease and cancer:1) A systematic review of milk in relation to cardiovascular disease:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15116074?ordinalpos=5&amp 2) A systematic review of milk in relation to prostate cancer:http://canceranddiet.nl/prostate_cancer/prospective_dairy_eg 3) A systematic review of milk in relation to breast cancer:http://canceranddiet.nl/breast_cancer/prospective_dairy_eggs 4) A systematic review of milk in relation to colorectal cancer:http://canceranddiet.nl/colorectal_cancer/prospective_dairy_ 5) A systematic review of milk in relation to ovarian cancer:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16492930?ordinalpos=1&amp 6) A systematic review of milk in relation to esophageal cancer:http://canceranddiet.nl/esophageal_cancer/prospective_and_ca

Yes, cancer loves sugar (there is an articel posted now on this very website under cancer news that talks about why cancer loves sugar) avoid all sugar - from white bread to alcohol! and dairy turns into mucas in the body which harbors cancer cells. the only dairy allowed is cottage cheese with flax oil- the budwig diet.

Thanks for your review--Clearly dairy is NOT something to worry about, did you also do a review of sugar vs risk?? Thanks, On 2/2/2008 isdatzo wrote:Personally, I try to stick to facts instead of reading interesting sites trying to put things out of perspective.
