Leep Procedure and HPV

Hello there ladies. It was great to see this message board. I just got notified that I have to have the LEEP procedure done too. I am shocked but I know God is in control. I have this question and am wondering if any of you can answer this as I will not see my doc till Friday. If I have HPV, then I am assuming my husband does too. Does this mean that after the LEEP procedure, that we should not have unprotected sex because we will be re-introducing the infection or does this matter because I'm already infected? Sounds stupid, but just wondering what your doctors have said about this. We want to have children. Thank you ladies. God bless you.

I was also worried about this!!That's not a stupid questions actually that was one of my main concerns! When I asked my doctor if it was going to infect my significant other she said that they are exposed to the virus but very rarely will it affect them. When I asked if I was able to have intercourse with him still without getting infected again she said since I already have the virus There is nothing to worry about. I recently had LEEP done Jan 11 08 and have been doing research for a long time so if you have any questions I will try my best to help.Hope my answers help you,I know how it feels to worry about that.Hope everything goes well.

Hi, thank you for replying to my message. I saw my doctor a couple of days ago and I had a page of questions for him. He said that men aren't even screened for HPV. I was very surprised to hear this as we could get it from a man. Anyway, that is water under the bridge at this point and I know that God is in control. Just curious though, how was recovery for you? Thank you,

My recovery is going pretty good although, I did get a bacteria infection after words but they said that it is pretty common. That healed up with some antibiotics. Since then everything seems to be going good. Hopefully this is the end of it.I don't have to go in for another 6 months. I do wish you the best and hope that everything goes well!!This can be really scary at times. I still think about it everyday. Not as much as I used to though!Well stay in touch I know these message boards really help that way you can talk to someone who is going threw the same thing.I know that they help me at least.
