post prostate cancer erection problems

I would like to know if there is anyone out there who can get a normal erection after prostate surgery? I had the robotic surgery in August of 2005. Cancer is gone but I sometimes feel it would have been better to take may chances with the cancer and still be able to function. I have used the vacuum pump, the shots to penis, and of course Viagara. All of these give me what I call a half erection. Therefore I stick with the Viagara. Talked with the Doctor about testosterone being low it was at 225, he did not recommend taking anything to increase it. From what I understand this is very low. Prior to the surgery and had a good sex drive and now it seldom crosses my mind. I am 60 now and had the surgery at age 58. If anyone has any suggestions PLEASE let me know.Thank you,Ronny

Although some are a more relaxed about it now, many doctors are reluctant to become involved in the touchy subject of testosterone replacement, so you could have difficulty finding one to prescribe for a PC patient. It's a risk / reward judgement. You could consult a specialist in ED if you havn't already done so.Two people have indicated to me that they had an implant, with no problems and good results, although I don't know what the overall success rate is for implants.

From our own experience it was my husbands use of testosterone cream (for depression) that got us inot this fix in the first place. From our own experience I would recommend against it... or at least do some serious reserch into the side effects of usiung the stuff. Basiaccly we discovered (too late and were not warned by the Dr) that additional testosterone i nthe system can actually increase the potential for an at risk individual to get prostate cancer.
