Hi LilaTherese here....do they think the hiccups are from the chemo or the tumor? Other than hiccups, how is your father? T

hey lila, it's kris. sorry i haven't kept in better touch. hope that all is going well for your dad......my dad has had really bad hiccups too, after chemo. they will last about 3-5 days after a treatment. the dr said that it is a side affect of the chemo...i cannot remember if it is the xeloda or the oxaliplatin. but it is one of those 2. my dad has also had issues w/ hiccups cuz his liver had been swelling and pushing his diaphram up and causing the hiccups. but the liver has shrunk a bit and that hasn't been much of an issue in the past 2 months.my dad has learned to sleep through the hiccups now. at 1st he couldn't. but now he and my mom both do. but they are bad. i feel so bad cuz i know that when i get them and they won't go away...for like 15 minutes, it gets tiring. i can't imagine going days w/ them.i hope you are staying strong. take care.

Hi Lila! I'm sorry to hear your Dad is suffering from those horrible hiccups. My Dad used to get them bad, but all he could ever get was the Compazine and Thorazine. They helped some, but he still struggled with those hiccups for some time. God bless...

Hi Therese,Thanks for your response. My dad and mom just came out for a visit and it was wonderful to see my dad and my mom. They really enjoyed the warm weather when they were here. The doc has not said what he thinks it's from...instead they call it ideopathic which is a technical term for "they just don't know". They've doubled up his dose of Thorazine and started him on neurontin and it seems to have subsided for the moment. Thanks again for your support. So how did things go at Stanford? Did you find anything out? How is your husband doing? Keep in touch and let me know how you are making out....Lila.
