CancerCompass message board discussion started by howtohelp on 2/21/2008 http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,21187,0.htm Fri, 05 Dec 2008 00:00:00 GMT Fri, 05 Dec 2008 00:00:00 GMT http://backend.userland.com/rss RSS.NET: http://www.rssdotnet.com/ Hello, My Girlfriends Father has PC, we found out in Oct 07.  I'm not sure of the amount of pain he is in, becasue I feel that he tries to hide it from the ones he loves.  His legs have started to swell, and they have had to drain his sctomach 2 times.  The first time removing 7lt of fluid.  He lives in FL, and us in PA, she would like to spend as much time with her Father as possible, but work and money make it impossible to be with him all the time.  How much time does she have left to spend with her father, and how soon should she get to FL.   Thank you all for your support. Any answers will be appreciated. Cindy65 Sat, 23 Feb 2008 00:00:00 GMT Hello,  I just wanted to let you all know, that my girlfriend dad, passed away on the 23rd.  He got very sick in the morning, and was taken to the hospital.  My girlfriend was told that he was in bad shape, and the nurse said that she should get down to Fl asap.  4hrs later after booking the flight we got the call that he had passed on.  We were devistated of course, but she is strong.  She is going down to fl, as I type, to be with her 14yr old sister.  She is amazing.  I would be falling apart right now.  Please keep her and her family in your thoughts.Thank you all...  To anyone that wants the hard to hear facts.  His PC had met to the liver, and stomach. They quit doing his 2nd batch of radiation 2weeks ago. He quit eating on Friday, and was having trouble breathing, before he passed out from the pain 6hrs before he passed on.  He never made it out of the emergency room.  It happened that fast.  He made it 5mo on a 6mo to a year time frame.  He was a heathy 69 yr old, with no history of anything.  He actually still was working at a golf course, and golfing last week.  To those of you that know people with this ugly cancer, spend as much time with them, as much as they can handle, make as meny new memories as possible, and make sure they are as comfortable as possible.  When it reached the final stage with him, it was a matter of hours not days.I'm thinking of you all, for those with the Cancer, stay strong... Cindy65 Sun, 24 Feb 2008 00:00:00 GMT Thank you Cindy.  Your Mother is in our prayers.  howtohelp Sun, 24 Feb 2008 00:00:00 GMT It is so hard to write.  I can understand what so many have written on this board about their family members.  I just found this place today.I am an  old child.  My mom is 76...always been very energetic, healthy..running circles around me a few years ago...when I was 46!She has stage 4 cancer of blood and into bone marrow.  Then they found it in liver as it had met. there from the pancreas.  They said not to bother to do any treatment, to which we agreed...I've known of so many who've done chemo, only to die from it and make their last days here horrible.She's always been big into nutrituion and is doing the Gersom juicing/enemas now.  If she is in pain, she doesn't show or tell it...and ha ha, my mom would!  My dad is taking care of her...she is very tired, hasn't gotten out in weeks...except for blood tests, and then she is exhausted.We try to seize everyday...going to her house in a few minutes.  She is as postiive as she can be and I'm sure that her faith in God is what has helped her to do this with quite a good amount of dignity.  I've been so aware, and see it by what people have written that you have to seize the day.Without siblings it is even harder...no one to say "remember when mom"....so very hard.  My dad is an angel...an amazing wonderful person.I understand....Beth  Bethie Sat, 01 Mar 2008 00:00:00 GMT I meant to say...my "mommie" is going through the same thing too..... Beth Bethie Sat, 01 Mar 2008 00:00:00 GMT  Beth,How is your mom doing?  How old is she?  Where are u from?We found out that it is not in her bones, lungs, brain or colon at this time.They did a liver biopsy just to make sure it was also the pancreatic cancer. We go to see the oncologist on Tuesday to find out when to start the gemzar treatments.   We are in central ohio.  My mom is 78 years old.
