Treatments available?

We just found out that after 7 months of being on Taxotere with perdnisone, that my husband's prostate cancer has spread to his liver. The entire time we were told that since his psa was going down (70 to 6.8) that the cancer wans't growing. When I took him in to the hospital emergency room this week for persistent weakness (could barely get out of bed and just wanted to sleep all the time) they did a scan and found his lever had many tumors, looking very cancerous. My husband's only been off taxotere for 4 weeks - he was so exhausted the doc had taken him off and since his Psa was down, doc felt we were in remission for a while. My question is what can be done next. Our doctor (onocologist) spoke to us over the phone (we can't see him for two days) and said he has some chemo pills which may slow down the progression of the liver cancer. But, this is the same doctor who was thrilled that the PSA was going down and who never told us that a falling PSA didn't mean that the cancer might still be spreading. Has anyone had any luck with chemo tablets or any type of chemo which actually slowed the disease down to where it was worth the side effects of the chemo? I am looking for information about this secondary liver cancer, looking for treatments and although I know there is no cure, wondering if there is anything which prolongs lifle for him. I also wondered if anyone had their husband (or whoever has the disease) become so exhausted all the time? my husband really can be alert and then he just gets so tired his eyes droop shut and he needs to nap - I don't know if this is his body shutting down because of the liver cancer or if the chemo has just exhausted him. Thanks so much for any information you can give me.Susan
