New to MGUS

Hello to all with MGUS! I just found out I have MGUS on Feb 18, 2008. Wow, I was thinking "how did I get this?" The doctor says not to worry the protein count isn't that high so I go back in 6 months. It is scary though, I am a single mom with 2 teens. I think you have to take one day at a time and thank God for all the blessings He's given you. No one in my family has this so it will be hard to explain to them. I've only told my mom and dad and of course the kids. I don't think they understand the seriousness of it but I've read many articles about it and it has helped me to understand. So for now I'll just pray and let God handle it. I know he'll help, He has helped me raise my kids for the last 15 yrs and with His help I've made it thru that. Take care everyone!

RE: New to MGUS

Hi Mel-- sorry to hear about the MGUS, but there is alot of info out there, particularly from the IMF - the International Myeloma Foundation. Just Google them and then go to their 'shop' and ask them to send you their complete information package. Its all FREE and the amount of information about MM, medications, side effects, etc. is wonderful. You will have plenty of time to read this when it comes, but then you will have a terrific reference when you go to talk to the doctor in 6 months. Best wishes to you, Cath
