Glyconutrients?

My brother has a grade IV brain tumor (glioblastoma multiforme). It was removed Nov. 2003 and he received radiation and chemo but a recent MRI found that it came back. He will get more surgery and chemo wafers or infusion. He is also interested in suppliments and diet. A friend of his suggested glyconutrients. They are "essential sugars" that come from the Aloe Vera plant. Mannatech corp seems to be the main manufacturer of this product. Every time I read something good about them it is usually followed by ordering information. That is all I know about this product so far.

Does anyone know anything about glyconutrients? Or can anyone offer any other suggestions for diet and supplements. I promised to help him in this aspect of his fight.

Thank you!

Glyconutrients - Jack

My brother has an inoperable high grade brain tumor and has been stable since 7/03. He took RM-10 by Garden of Life USA and still does. My father-in-law was given a few months, he has colon cancer with inoperable mets to the liver. He has been taking RM-10 and is doing exceptionally well. I'll attach some links for you to research. It is very similar to the Mannatech products but much cheaper. RM-10 is glyco nutrients. Other names are 8 miracle sugars, super carbs, etc. All I know is I have 2 family members doing exceptionally well who are taking RM-10 in addition to treatments prescribed by their doctors.

Glyconutrients

Hi,I'm sorry to hear about your brother's brain tumor and father-in-law's colon cancer. I am a minister and throughout my career I am always dealing with illnesses in varying degrees among the church members. It's never an easy thing for families to go through.

Glyconutrients do seem to work in a variety of ways. They are non-specific, that is, they work generally in a number of areas. I am a Mannatech associate. My wife and I(who had blood clots on her lungs and I have hep c) have responded extremely well. These products, while they work, are not intended to replace a physcian's care.

My website is www.FamilyHealthAlternatives.com and a very good informational site is www.Glycoscience.org

I hope that things go well for you and yours.

Glyconutrients?

MY friend, Dave Eastman, was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma
Multiforme tumor in April, 2004, and told that surgery,
radiation and a very toxic chemotherapy would only extend his
life 12 months, maximum.

Dave took the glyconutrient complex along with that standard
treatment. Three months after diagnosis an MRI showed no
trace of cancer. It was the same at six, nine and 12 months. He
has been very healthy all the way through, verified by excellent
blood work. A doctor commented, "You have a very strong
immune system!" Dave just smiled.

For months Dave has been doing heavy manual work and
loving it! He and his wife, Deborah, are now reaching out to
others with the glyconutrients. I will gladly put anyone in touch
with them.

An excellent resource on this science is the new book, THE
HEALING POWER OF 8 SUGARS (ISBN 0-9737317-0-2, a
symposium by 18 medical experts. It is a 'must read' for
anyone concerned about wellness in general, and cancer in
particular.

I have been reading extensively on glyconutrients and cancer
because a few of my relatives have various forms of brain caner
and I am quite concerned I am at risk. The best resource I have
found is a site called Glyconutrients Reference. The web
address is http://www.glyconutrientsreference.com. There is a
section on medical conditions and a page on cancer and
glyconutrients. Check it out, hopefully you will find it useful.

Glyconutrients

Don't know if anyone ever got back with you on the glyconutrients, but they can be ordered through a company called Mannatech. They have a patent on the product Ambrotose. Ambrotose is a powder which can be mixed in juice or tea (any liquid, I just find it tastes better in juice or tea). I have taken it for over a year now and it gave me more energy and stopped my tumors from growing. (I had a pancreatic tumor which metastisized to my liver in 2002.) My doctors can't believe how well I'm doing. It's fundamental nutrition that is no longer present in today's diet. Doctors are skeptical of the product, but I know too many people who take glyconutrients that have healed or improved their health with these products. (Cancer, arthritis, headaches, MS, etc.) Their just nutritional products, not herbs or medicines. I hope this information helps.

Yes, you can put these products in a feeding tube. This is done all the time. Mannatech is the only company that has a patent on their product. A lot of companies claim to have a good product but they don't have all eight essential sugars like Mannatech. If you don't have all eight it won't work. Nancy

Hello Again

This is Jack In Texas who started this tread originally. I am sorry to report my brother passed away in November 2005 - about 1 year after he was diagnosed.

I just wanted to report back because this thread I started seems like it is becoming a launching point for people in the Mannatech/Glyconutrients business.

I cannot recommend them however. My brother did use them but it didn't make a difference in his case. He was a true believer and was introduced to them by someone in the church community. I'm not sure why but it seems this product has a religious tie. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I wish you all success in your efforts to fight this horrible malady. Many do get well, especially with the help of good doctors such as the ones at MD Anderson in Houston where my brother had surgery (twice) to remove the aggressive tumor. But he just wasn't one of the lucky ones.

So don't give up. My brother never did and I am so proud of him for that.

Good luck to you all,
Jack

Glioblastoma Multiforme

Hello Nancy H.,

I am very sorry to hear about your nephew, but I
am very pleased that he will be getting the
glyconutrients.

Now, let me gently say that your question
reveals your (understandable) 'drug' thinking.
All pharmaceutical drugs are toxic (poisonous)
and must be taken in a very controlled way.
Otherwise, the harm exceeds their benefit, which
all too frequently happens -- too often
disastrously.

But the glyconutrients are foods found i
n nature. All of us functions because there are
glycoproteins (glyconutrients on protein stems)
protruding off the surfaces of every one of our trillions of cells. (Inside each cell glyconutrients are also at work.) This makes glyc
obiology as old as life itself.

All functions depend on cell-to-cell communication that is fa
cilitated by various combinations of glyconutrie
nts on cell surfaces, especially the immune system.

But this all tends to break down when their
is a deficiency of glyconutrients (It has been determined that there are at least eight.) We get an abundance of glucose, and those not intolerant of dairy products get galactose,
but the remaining six are rare or absent. This i
s a huge problem and seems to be the basis of
all chronic diseases.

Now, coming back to your question of how much a particular person needs, the answer is simply lots, especially when there is a disease condition.

Dr. H. Reg McDaniel M.D. has pioneered in the science o
f glycobiology for 20 years. He
has developed a protocol for people with
intensive needs, but he would freely acknowledge
that it is only a guideline. When it come
s to foods, you simply have to consume enough to
meet the body's needs -- and that calls for
trial-and-error. Fortunately, like all food
s, the glyconutrients are safe at just about a
ny quantity.

I hope this is helpful.

For your encouragement there is an excllent
recovery reported at this web site <http://
www.coonrapidsherald.com/2004/April/
29Holton.html>.

Sincerely,
MannaDad

Cancer and Glyconutrients

Dear Jack,

Over the past couple of years I have lost some family and friends due to cancer. THis led me to research alternative therapies. I too came accross glyconutrients. Unfortunately they decided to only pursue traditional cancer treatments and did not fare well. I have heard some remarkable stories of recovery from various types of cancers by others using glyconutrients combined with traditional treatments.

I found this web site glyconutrients and cancer

This website called disease education is very informative on various types of cancer and other disease conditions. This site uses educational videos on alternative therapies including glyconutrients that are very easy to understand and demonstrates how these alternative therapies promote health. This site lists scientific validation in simple termanology and shows you exactly how these types of nutrients help people with cancer.

Hope this helps

Yes, I had a client that was brain dead and they put them in his feeding tube. It worked great, you just have to make sure there is enough fluid so it doesnt get clogged. We had to send a tape on Dr. Reg Mcdaniels on Adult stem cell before the Dr. would allow it, but all Dr.s are different. Maybe yours wont care. Mannatech is the only company that can legal sell them. They have the patent in 20 Countries for having all 8 essential nutrients together in one product. Here is the number to a nurse that works for this company. She can help you.

Hello Jack,

How is your brother? Did you try the glyconutrients. My father has just been diagnosed with GBM and I also just ordered him some. Did you use any other supplements?

Glycos

Hello Lori,

I am sorry to hear about your father. My brother passed away one
year ago. His battle lasted about a year as well. He did try the
glyconutrients but they had no affect on his cancer I am sorry to
say. I just want you to know this so you continue to pursue all
avenues to help your father beat this.

Good luck to you!

Glyco.

HI Jack,

I am sorry to hear about your brother. My dad is not doing well suddenly, he has alot of swelling right now and I am not sure if the doctors will keep giving him steroids. This has got to be one of the worst ways to die, I am so scared he will slip into a coma or have a stroke.
God bless you!

Glyco

My husband (34 now) was diagnosed with GBM 3years ago. He was done wonderful until 3 weeks ago. We had an MRI and it showed growth on the other side. WOW he declined within 2 days it was unbelievable. I only heard about glyconutrients a month ago and could not afford them at the time. Once we got the news I used the money we were saving for Christmas to buy it for him. It was been 2 weeks and I haven't seen any positive change on him. If anything he is getting worse. He can no longer eat without choking and he is regressing to his childhood. I will continue to give him the glyco nutrients, because I just have a wonderful gut feeling about it. He tells me daily that he is going to beat this and right now that is all I need to hear. Continue to keep me update on everyones progress. Positive thoughts can be the strongest medicine.

Gamma Knife ??

My father has just gotten the results back from his MRI and his tumour has grown back in the same area. He has alot of swelling and can barely walk. The doctor has told my mom that he has about a month to live. I have not had a chance to give him the glycos. yet. I think maybe it might be too late. My father is hurting so bad, he just wanted more time to have some quality of life back. He was hoping that the chemo. and radiation would work, but it has only made it worse. I am devastated and cannot beleive how fast he has deterioted. My father has a will to live but he is so weak right now I am not sure he will be able to fight. Sice my dad's new tumour is inoperable I am looking into Gamma Knife radiosurgery has anyone gone through this??

Gbm Treatments

God bless you too and your Dad and good luck! They tried Gladiel
chemo wafers on my brothers last surgery without success. Don't
know anything about the gamma knife. This is a very aggressive
kind of cancer as you know. We were all wishing we let him skip
the last chemo and radiation treatments because they ended up
not working anymore and they really dragged him down too. So
you do what you can and tell him you love him about 100 times a
day.

RE: Glyconutrients?

I have been taking glyconutrients for a year now from the same company you were referred to. There are so many people getting amazing results from the products you should truly look more into it. The study of glyconutrients called glycobiology has won 4 nobel prizes in the medical field and is predicted by MIT to be among the top 10 technologies that will change the world. There is alot of validation for these products out there. Here are some sites to help you.
So how is it working for YOU? You mentioned that you have been taking them for a year and then immediately start giving us a bunch of information about the awards and how many others are getting results. What kind of cancer were you diagnosed with and how have the glycos helped? How do you know it was the glycos?Good luck to you and God bless.

RE: Glyconutrients? DO they work?

I have studied up on glyconutrients. They claim there have been scientific studies done on them but I have searched many many databases for any journal articles whatsoever on glyconutrients or ambratose but found nothing other than a passing mention. As a healthcare professional I have access to many journal databases. This makes me wonder whether or not studies have been done, how thorough the studies were, or what the results of the studies were. If this was scientifically proven to be helpful you would think that the manufacturers would try to publish their studies in well-read medical journals. The fact that the manufacturers claim that glyconutrients can help with every disease from a to z also makes me question them. My mom has taken glyconutrients (which is why I have studied them) and I question whether or not they have done anything for her except to make her wallet lighter. I know that when faced with a loved one's mortality people will do anything to fight off death. I want to fight off my mom's death more than I have ever wanted anything but I think that using glyconutrients is not hte most effective way to do that.
