My Mom...Update

Hi everyone, I have been nusy for a while. I took an indefinite leave of absence and my wife and I are now living with my mom and dad to take care of them both. She finished her first treatment and had good scan results, but patterned vomiting made them do another endoscopy and it looks like SOME of the cancer has responded to chemo and some no. So the doctor at MGH wants to change her chemo. She was on Cisplatin and irinotecan?? something like that. Can other people please tell me the combinations they used (stage IV) and what results they had. I will post the anonymouse results as a spreadhseet for those interested.Good news - she had two good days and my nieces and nephews were here for the first time in 2 months - she was happy today. Thanks to all that have helped and continue to help.ChrisZ

RE: My Mom...Update

Hi Chris,You are a very dedicated son (with an understanding wife :) to put your life on hold to care for your parents. How are your children adjusting to the move? (You were living 2 hours away, right?) Just sent you a private message before I read this one. My dad is on irinotecan and cisplatin. After 4 treatments his tumor shrank from 5 to 4 cm. I do know that the amount was cut in half after his first treatment because he was so sick.I have read many stories over the last few months and it seems that reactions, side effects, etc. to treatment are very individualized. What works for some may not work for others and vice versa. DO NOT GIVE UP-there are many drugs and combinations that the drs. can try.Praying for you all
