Memory and Language Problems

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last June. I am now in remission after 4 rounds of chemo and major surgery. The problem that I'm having now is (still) memory loss and language problems. The language difficulty is really irritating. I know what I want to say but getting the words from my brain to my mouth is very difficult. Sometimes I have to pause between each word I say. Sentences do not flow like they did before chemo. My last treatment was October 2004. Can anyone give advise, or has anyone gone through this situation. How long will this last? Thank you!

Don't feel alone, my oncologist calls it chemo- brain. It is extremely common, but I do not know if the reasons are clearly understood. I found that time is a great healer, however using your mind to read, do puzzles, write letters was the best remedy for me. Sing out loud and practice tongue twisters. If it is really creating a problem to communicate on a daily basis ask your Dr. about cognitive retraining and therapy. It will get better as your strength and stamina return. Just be good to yourself and be forgiving of your own mistakes. I am four years post chemo and am finally starting to feel normal.
