Starting Avastin

I am starting Avastin treatment this coming Wednesday and was hoping to hear from others about their experiences with it. I had been taking Sutent 50 mg for 12 cycles (28 days/14 days) but in Feb. starting having severe pain my chest. A CAT scan showed a tumor in my left lung had grown from 1.4 cm to 2.4 cm in two months. Anyway, whatever info you can share is greatly appreciated.

I have been taking Avastin along with Chemo drugs (Xeloda & Gemzar) for the past 8 months. So far it has kept me stable, and there have been no side effects form the Avastin. I had a nephrectomy in Oct, 2005. I have tried Nexavar for 4 months (didn't work), then I tried Sutent for 18 months. It was successful until last July when I started to develop Pleural Effusions (fluid in the lining of my left lung). After Thorasic surgery, the problem stayed at bay till very recently. I expect we will be looking at a new treatment plan shortly. I think the Avastin kept the lymphnodes from growing as long as I have been taking it. Good luck ! D. J.

Yes, Torisel is our likely next option if the Chemo doesn't stop progression. D. J.
