mass on left kidney what does it mean

Hi my doctor just gave me the news that they found a mass did not say how big but that it was solid not fluid filled . he did the ultrasund after a bonescan showed a full kidney area when they were loking for the cause of leg pain that has plagued me for over a year. he did mri and ct scan in nov.06 and nothing should on that so this is something new or at least since 06. besides being in pain with my leg and sme mild flu like syptoms I feel fine but he said he thought that this is kidney cancer. what are the chances hes wrong and this is nothing to fret about. I am suppse to have a test where I have to drink something on tuesday then if that is abnormal I go to urologist what about this do I need to know and should I be worried?

Ketha, Same symptoms I had in 97 minus the leg pain. Sounds like a tumor. Hope not, but if it is it can be removed. I had my left kidney removed Mar. 97 w/no complications. Make sure your Dr. is experienced with RCC (RenalCellCarcinoma ). I will keep you in my prayers Good Luck
