Mucus and Ulcers on tongue

Hi All. Finished 7 chemos ans 33 radiations on 2/28/08. Today, 3/13/08, still recouping. My problems have been ulcers on the tongue from radiation. Some are healing, but the ones that haven't yet make me GAG brushing my teeth, sometimes throwing up from it. The doctors gave me Ulcer Ease, if it's helping, I'm not sure. Tongue is healing slowly though. But now I am producing mucus like no man's land. Laying down to sleep, after 10-15 minutes, no problem with it but being vertical during the day I can spit a teaspoon every 3-5 minutes. ALL day. Mostly between waking and early to late evening. My doctor gave me a pain patch to wear to ease the tongue and a side effect is supposed to be a drying effect in the mouth.Has anyone had this and a successful remedy? If not, did it go away in a while?Water makes the ulcers on my tongue hurt like crazy. I rinse my mouth with mild salt/baking soda in warm water and it will remove a LOT, bit of course mucus is a factory in my mouth. Then the watr makes the ulcers hurt and I use magic mouthwash after a while. All along to swallow water ( to keep those muscles OK) I tend not to drink water (have feeding tube) because a sip or two of water hurts like crazy. The next step the doctor said is to wear the patch on my deck you get for going on a cruise for nausea, they say it drives you up. Lastly, my vision has gotten a little worse (I wear bi-focals) sinse this began. Does it come back or will need new prescriptions? Thanks David
