What I need to do??

Dear All; My pathalogy (Biopsy) report reads 1) Conventional Clear CEll Renal Carcinoma 2) Fufrman's Nuclear Grade II 3) NoLymphocytic infiltrate is noted around the tumor. 4) Tumor is confined to kidney. 5) Single Hilar Lymph node is negative for metastsis. 6) Renal pelvis, perinephric fat are uninvolved. This is after I have had a radical nephrectomy (removal of left kidney) on 22nd Feb-08. Am scared; I cried; I wailed; I searched the net. I used to drink a lot. Its down 75%. I used to have a tabacco mix (around 10-15 times a day). Now, its ZERO. Have started homeopathy (Dr. AUR Ramakrishna- Chennai-India). I understand not much options except for polonging life available in allopathy!!!. Even before the surgery; small tiny less than 3 MM (yes millimeteres) nodules were there in my left and right lungs. After; surgery; the doc says; lets wait for 3-6 mnths to confrm this nodules. What do I do??? GIVE UP?? Jupiter

I am new to this board and this disease. The first thing I learned was to NEVER give up and to ALWAYS believe! My bf was diagnosed with stage IV RCC in Dec 07. I'm not sure what everything you posted means, but if you can maybe simplify it for me, I will try to help you.

Never give up. I had my right kidney removed 5 years ago because of a primary cancer. Last year I had a secondary bone tumour in my left femur and had a titanium replacement for the top of third of the femur. I had to learn to walk again. Unfortunately I also had two clusters of secondary kidney tumours on my lungs that were growing by about 50% in volume every quarter. I started on sutent in December 2007. After two cycles my lung tumours had reduced in volume by an average of 50%.I'm now half way through my third cycle of sutent and it is expected to see further reductions in my tumours.5 years ago sutent was not available. Who knows what new treatments or cures will be discovered over the next 5 years. I would recommend you try to live each day and enjoy every moment of life you have. Set yourself a simple objective to stay alive for a few years to benefit from any future treatments that come along. I have completely stopped drinking any alcohol and cut out as much sugar as I can from my diet as the tumours rely on you to feed them and they need sugar to grow. I try to keep to a macrobiotic diet but it is sometimes hard when the side effects of sutent are bad.Good luck and remember to think positively about each day.

I have rcc with mets to the lungs and lymphs, have had no chemo ect yet ,tried the bahama cancer clinic, It has worked for many but was not enough for me, I just read about the a,p, john institute for cancer research and thier new therapy, have you heard of it ?I was surprised when the lyphms on the side of my neck swelled to alage egg shaped lump on my neck, Having a biopsy done this thursday we'll see, So the sutent side effects are pretty bad sometimes ,? they tell me if I keep on with the bahama treatment through out sutent it will cut the side effects ,I hope so, I am afraid of that darn pill but what other choice do I have ,Anyway God bless you and I hope your tumors just keep right on -a- shrinkingCArol

Carol, my sutent side effects are not too bad. I've worked out ways to deal with most of them. I am on the maximum dose too. Thanks for the A.P.John reference. I've read the info their web site. I'm interested in using some of their CAAT diet suggestions. It there many similarities with my special cancer macrobiotic diet. It is possible that the shrinkage of my tumours is a combined effect of the sutent drug and my diet.Good luck with the biopsy today.Keith
