progression

Well, Mom is still hanging in there. I had to return home for a while and went back to see her over the weekend. I could really see a decline in that she is much "smaller" - not skinny just frail. She has in infection with low-grade fever and the Decadron she is on for nausea is causing her blood sugars to be high and she is getting insulin. Even with the Decadron she is needing more and more Zophran or Phenergen. The nurses told me that the need for pain meds has increased also. She is much weaker than before and sleeps more often but is still mentally aware. The Hospice facility has been a God-send. I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and support. I have shared this web-site to many people already. It is so helpful to know your not alone. RhondaH

Hi Rhonda. I have read your messages and want to let you know that your situation sounds very familiar. It is so hard to watch your mother/loved one go through such a horrible disease and not do more. I too was not truly prepared for what was to come with this disease but, what it did confirm for me is how amazingly strong and courageous our loved one's are. Try and remember to live in "today". There are so many minutes in a day and there may be some meaningful ones that will remain in your heart forever. Please know you and your mom are in my prayers.
