OK Dan: If your friend has no assets she can apply for Medical assitance. If she has to loose her job because of this that also applies. Plus you can get unemployment benefits. The good news is as follows. Most cervical cancers are cured 100% by removal of the uterus. In other words a hysterectomy. If the cancer has spread then she needs additional treatment. For your sake Sign Nothing as it can break you financially. You can help her out with money but do not let the institution know that she has other funds. This is not dishonest it is the way the system works. I also would go to www.cancercenter.com and talk with them live chat. Just do not volunteer publicaly to offer financial aid. Look into all the options. But as I said a hysterectomy is the answer to this dilema. Now if one wants children then you have to speak to the doctor on what to do. I worked in ONcology in this field and we had wonderful success with total hysterectomy. All the best.
