Has developed massive ascitis and severe pedal edema in the past 2 weeks. What do these new syptoms mean with regard to the spreading of the cancer and how will it be treated?I will be going to the md with her this tuesday , but would like to have a heads up on what to expect. what questions should i ask the doctor at this time. Is hospice now a consideration or will these syptoms be treated and be done with ?  chitchat Sun, 23 Mar 2008 00:00:00 GMT She may get a stent for the ascites or may get some drained via a long needle. She may be put on a diurectic. This is a good time to talk with the oncologist about whether treatment should continued to be pursued or if palliative care would be more appropriate. I wish you well.
