RE: tonsil cancer

I wish I had the magic answer. My husband said only sweets tasted okay and got full very quickly also. It turned out that he had an obstruction at the beginning of his stomach that wasn't found until right before we were released to hospice care so ask the doctor if there is any obstructions in your husband's gi tract. If he'll eat sweets, put fiber and protein powder in every thing he'll try. Also try the Ensure Plus since it has more calories. If all else fails, ask for a feeding tube. My husband wasn't a candidate for that, but there were many people who had a feeding tube for a while at his clinic and many had lost forty pounds before it was put in and they gained most of their weight back, and did not use it after their appetite returned. Best wishes for a fast recovery

Everything I cook he dosen't like! Frustrated cook! Any ideas? Anybody?Hi I was diagnosed w/ tonsil cancer last June. I lost 25 lbs in a short period as a result of chemo and radiation. They inserted a PEG tube which allowed me to "eat" through the tube. Jevity, which is similar to Ensure, was prescribed as it has everything nutritional needed to battle the cancer. It is important for your husband to maintain his weight to give him the needed strength for his battle ahead. I am a year post diagnosis and cancer, chemo, and radiation are becoming a distant memory so there is light at the end of the tunnel. I am now eating two meals a day with one of Jevity and will probably get my PEG tube out at the end of July. My taste buds are back even though certain things - like salt, ketchup, peppers, and spicy foods - are even more pronounced now. If I can be of any help - please email me. Been there - Diana
