RE: Mediator ... Everything Ok?

Thank you for checking on us! I tell everyone I meet how wonderful the people on this board are. There is a real sense of community and caring. I appreciate that.We are okay. My husband was experiencing some real difficulties post radiation. He only lost 4 lbs during the whole treatment but lost another 15 post treatment! When we saw the chemo doc about five days post rad completion, I was certain he was developing thrush. But, that was quickly dismissed as post treatment common symptoms. The problem with being healthier than then norm is they poo-poo everything he experiences. Well, you know what's coming next.....I called the rad doc nurse and made him an appt Tuesday. Lo and behold, he had thrush and it was pretty extensive. They even thought it might be heading down the esophagus to the lungs and thus the reason for the coughing.Boy oh boy was I ticked! I kept my tongue though. I was a good little caregiver. Inside I was steaming like a train. He is remarkably better with just four doses of Diflucan 100mg. Without the cottage cheese effect, he is beginning to taste things and has less coughing. Unfortunately, he is experiencing sleeplessness from going off the patch. He says he can manage though and is doing fine. He is such a tough nut. This is the time that being a type A personality really paid off. He has a schedule he follows rigidly and he monitors his weight, eating habits, cleaniness and meds. I like that he has stayed in charge of himself. I believe it is the key to quicker recovery. So, that is it in a nutshell. Thank you so much for checking on us. Hope you are well too.Kara

So he's on oxygen, and drinking lots of liquids and a super antibiotic, but everynight I'm afraid to go to sleep because of the hi temps. He awoke this morning with over 105, so I gave him tylenol and ice packs and it is dropping. Bottom line is that the docs don't reall know anymore about this than I do. He is on delautad and a 100 mg Fentenol patch - is that the patch your husband was on?
