Torisel

I want to thank everyone who answere my "Torisel" questions. I tried to answer each one individually, but I am not sure I did. But, thank you all. The questions I had were:Thank you for your reply. I feel somewhat better now about receiving this treatment.I do have some questions, if you can help me with. How many mg's do they give you? I read that if they give you too much it could be life threatening. That over 25 mg's could hurt me. Will the injection be in my arm? Also I read that the injection is very painful when inserting and when removing the needle. (I'm such an old cry baby)Will I lose my hair? How long does it take? Can't think of anymore questions now, but I hope it is OK to contact you if I have more. Thank you so much for your help.... oldmom

The injection doesn't hurt anymore then a regular IV. Get a nurse that knows what she's doing and you'll be fine. They will draw your labs for bloodwork each week, as long as your bloodwork is fine, (takes 30-60 minutes usually), then they will put in an IV, begin running saline, give you your pre-meds, and 30 mins later start the torisel. My treatment runs for an hour, I don't feel as good afterwards on 30 min treatment. I promise the treatment is not bad, I take a nap every monday for an hour while I'm getting mine. I've been doing this for 6 months now, the side effects from the beginning go away soon. You won't lose your hair. But Do what I didn't... Wash your mouth out everytime you think of it, with the baking soda and water when you first begin, it will help with the mouth soars,(I don't get them anymore, but in the beginning, that was the main side effect.)Not a big deal, since this Miracle drug has killed the center of my tumors and began shrinking them. I have faith in this drug. I'm going to be on it the rest of this year... hopefully my tumors will be shrunk enough by then to be removed. ( I have serval mets to the liver - the largest was 11 cm - now it's 10.3, which I think is GREAT, since it had to stop the tumor, kill the center and is now working on shrinking them!)Sorry to go on, I wish you the BEST. The NUMBER 1 thing I believe in, is keeping FAITH and maintaining a GREAT ATTITUDE!!! Know your going to beat this. And cling to your family and friends for support. And always remember, if this doesn't work, there's always more options. NEVER GIVE UP!!!If I can answer or find any answers for you, just let me know. If you find any, I'd love to hear about them as well. Best of Luck to you. Lisa

Hi Lisa,I've just read your message with great interest, my husband was diagnosed with this awful disease back in June, and his prognosis was poor and was given only a few months to live....he started Torisel in August and we've just had the results of the 1st scans, which thankfully show that he's stable and the mets in his lung has shrunk slightly...how are things with you are you still using this drug..? Would love to speak with you...Maxine xx
