2nd Dose of Avastin

Hello everyone! Wanted to let you know about the Avastin treatment I have been receiving at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. I just received my second dose of Avastin last Wednesday. It has been great! I have not experienced any side effects as I did while taking Sutent for 12 cycles. I did experience a pretty bad headaches, however my Oncologist told me if it continues to let him know and he will order a brain scan to make sure tumors have not shown up in my head. Otherwise, he said it is probably just one of the few side effects. My sister told me of a new protocol using Avastin and Torisel together. She has been an Oncology RN for over 25 yrs. She said the drs she works with use the combination. Has anyone here been given the combination? If so let me know about your experiences, thanks!Terry

RE: 2nd Dose of Avastin

My dad is enrolled in a study here at the Mayo Clinic using Toresil and Avastin. He's been off of Sutent for 2 weeks now because it didn't work for him and his lung tumors are growing and increasing in number. He has to be off the Sutent for a total of 4 weeks before he starts the new protocol so we are headed to Mexico for 2 weeks to absorb some quality time together. I'll let you know how he does on the new protocol. --It's a phase 2 study. Good luck to you,Tina
