Coughing & stage IV

HI.lately I have noticed my husband is coughing ALOT. I see him spitting into a tissue but when I ask if its phlem or what color it is, he says "I'm fine, dont worry".... but that worries me more. Have you or your loved ones been thru this? Is it something I should be concerned about? Is it from chemo or should I be preparing myself for more bad news? I know he is trying to protect me but usually if he is worried he will share it with me. (he is stage IV, diagnosed Dec 2007)~Christine

Hello. I am not sure I am much help but, I know my mother had that cough too. It wasn't constant but, maybe 2 or 3 times in a 24 hour period. I would get her a roll of paper towels and she would cough until it felt like things were clearer. It sounded as if she was trying to clear her throat but, whatever was stuck did not want to budge much. I didn't ask what she was spitting up to be honest. Back then I figured it was phlegm but, now I don't know? It was all so new to me back then.To be on the safe side definately mention it to your doctor. You both are in my thoughts and prayers

thank you. My husband has a roll of TP next to the couch and I notice that he does it about 5 times a day. I will make sure he tells his doctor at his next visit. Thanks again.

He has just had a petscan to see if it has gone to any surrounding organs,,,we find out about this on the 6th of may,...If it has not spread further, the doctors said they can remove all of his stomache,,,and follow up with chemo and radium.....I hope the news will be promising...My husband has also developed a cough...He has always coughed a bit though,.,,but i think it sounds a bit worse.Ilately.,,,.Its all so terrible, and seems like a horrible nightmare,...Yours Sincerely Joy..
