CancerCompass message board discussion started by bennys on 4/14/2008 http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,23066,0.htm Tue, 07 Oct 2008 00:00:00 GMT Tue, 07 Oct 2008 00:00:00 GMT http://backend.userland.com/rss RSS.NET: http://www.rssdotnet.com/ I have a very close friend that I have known all my life we grew up together and went to school together......Over the last three to four years everything that could go wrong has.......and to top it all off today he was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer...........He is retired and about three years ago he went through a divorce and his wife got the home and the retirement that they had invested in real estate.......he is destitute.......he has lived with me for the past two years and he and his son moved out the day after thanksgiving last year and things were looking up.....now this.....He has no insurrance ......He is a very proud man but now he has to be practical.......does anyone know of any type os assistance for someone is his position.......he has to go to a specialist to find out the next step.......and I suggested he go to the Social Security people and apply for Disability ......does anyone else have any suggestions if so please help him out and I will relay the info....and thanks in advance........... bennys Mon, 14 Apr 2008 00:00:00 GMT  I know your friends pride ! I too didn't have any health insurance for little over a year , I'm in a smal ltown  in Fl. but i went to the county health dept. where i got very good care and test done at no charge, also they were able to get me alot of my heart medicines at no charge . its worth your time to check into it ,dont for get you and your friend tax dollars pay for these public services . tzzzz216 Tue, 15 Apr 2008 00:00:00 GMT My boyfriend has cancer and no insurance as well.  We did go to the county and got assistance that way.
