In addition, have you seen any of the lab reports? Did your doctor give full explanations, each time, about your condition and why certain treatments were being recommended? If you weren't given all the information, definitely get a different doctor. There are some question marks about what you are describing. herenow Sun, 20 Apr 2008 00:00:00 GMT I had a radical hysterectomy Oct 2005.  There was a microscopic piece that floated into the vaginal cuff therefore I had to go through internal (very painful) and external radiation.  The radiologist said that I would have to wait at least a year or so before doing a 'pap' test because the cells are still going through changes and it would probably be abnormal.  My oncologist would check me every 3 months, and now every 6 months.  When I got the call after my cone biopsy, I had an appt with this doctor within 3 days and my surgery within 2 weeks.  He is one of the best Oncologists in Chicago.   But, I am have lots of problems since then because of the radiation and not knowing if they are was just wondering where you had your treatment.  Long Story short...I had cryo 15 years ago for abnormal pap.  Had normal paps after..and then 2 children.  Continued normal paps.  Now 14 1/2 years later...I had a pap come back with high grade lesion...saw a Gyne/Onc who did a colposcopy and then a biopsy...scheduled me for a cone and then decided with the result of the biopsy, that I should have a radical hysterectomy to remove the cervix, uterus and lymph nodes.  Any thoughts from anyone?  I'm just wondering if removal of the lymph nodes is necessary?  What about a simple hysterectomy? Francis in Chicago.  He tested about 5 lymph nodes but they were negative.   If they test positive for HPV, then you'd want them removed for sure because I believe that could travel to other organs in your body.   He took the cervix & uterus, but left my ovaries,but then the radiation killed those.  The only reason why I had to go through internal & external radiation was because there was a microscopic piece that floated away into the vaginal cuff.  Luckily the 1/2 dozen of the pathologists found it when they were doing the biopsies of the organs during the surgery.  I've had abnormal paps pretty much all my life but the gyne at the time didn't do anything about it.  If she had,then maybe I wouldn't have had to go through all this pain.  The radiation was HORRIBLE!!!  Worst pain ever!!!   She used to just tell me to douche with water/vinegar.   If you have to have a 2nd opinion, then I would do that!!!   This is NOT something to play with!!!!!!!    Nascar19lvr Sun, 20 Jul
