Margaret's Update

Hi to all of you who have been following my 2 year(plus!) fight with this disease. I know some of you have been waiting for an update from me....sorry to be so slow! had some computer problems that are finally resolved.I last told you about a visit with a surgical oncologist. Have been back to see him again since then. Took the PET scan to him......it showed nothing in the center of my liver so the proposed surgical procedures are now on the calendar to begin! Supposed to have the first surgery next week. May 1st! This is the one where he will remove the right side of the colon and the left side of the liver. While I am in the hospital, if I recover quickly, he may go ahead and do the 2nd procedure, portal vein chemoembolization. I have been having daily Neupogen shots to raise my cell counts, as they have been very, very low. As of now it l may have to postpone because I caught a nasty something. Sore throat, nasty cough, fever.... Am on antibiotics for it and have bloodwork done again tomorrow to recheck counts. Still hoping that the surgery will be on schedule, got to get well! Will keep in touch with you if you are still interested.....Margaret

Your story has greatly impacted my Dad who was diagnosed in late February 2008 with Stage IV Colon Cancer and he was given no chance of survival. He is responding well to the treatments and still continues to go to work every day and lead a normal life. Please keep us updated.
