Integrated Med Center Las Cruces?

Does anyone here have any personal information about this facility? My partner has stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer and got in touch with a friend of a friend who also has Pan Can and is also a doctor himself. After being told by most standard medicine practices that there wasn't much else they could do, he went to this facility in Las Cruces New Mexico and has been treated by Dr. Berkson. Apparantly he has been issuing a treatment involving (hope I'm typing this correctly) Alpha Letolic Acid. Supposedly this treatment has taken 16 growths on this man's liver and now they are undetectable. The initial Pancreatic Tumor is still there and has not changed in size. I was curious if anyone else has any information about this place? I realize that cancer is so unpredictable and what may work for one person wont necessarily work for anyone else. Since we live in CO, and most of this would not be covered under insurance, this would be very costly for us. Obviously money is not an issue if the results are there. Any stories to share?

I don't know anything about this center you are talking about, but try this Johns Hopkins Pancreas Chat board: http://pathology.jhu.edu/pancreas_chat/ There are lots more people on the JH PC board and it's more likely someone will know about this center you're enquiring about. The first thing to know is that you need to get a second opinion, and sometimes a third. You also should call PanCan, the Pancreatic Cancer Support Network and they can give you lots of information. They aren't affiliated with any one hospital, but do know who to recommend. http://www.pancan.org/ My recommendation is M D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. It is one of the top in the nation. http://www.mdanderson.org/ You can do a self-referral on their website and usually be seen within a week or so for evaluation and testing. They are wonderful there and totally positive and caring. Don't believe statistics, your partner is a statistic of one. There are many people who are told they've only got a few months who are still living years later. You'll see many of them posting on the Johns Hopkins Pancreas Chat board

I don't have any information on the Medical Center/ Las Cruces
but I do have some information re the Alpha Lipoic Acid treatment which might be helpful for your partner. Here is the link.. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&d

Also here is a link to a clinic in New York which has had much better than average positive results treating pancreatic cancer with alternative protocols... http://www.dr-gonzalez.com/index.htm
