HiDoes anyone know of anyone who died of GCT? I know its a slow growing type of cancer. I had a total hysterectomy couple months ago due this diagnosis. I'm just wondering if it's really fatal after reading all messages Thank you

RE: Granulosa Cell Tumor

I too have GCT. I had a football sized tumor removed last October (07). You know no one has eer said to me "Fatal". I was told that these tumors have a propensity for returning last in life but there is still a 50/50 chance of return in teh next 5 years. The only other thing that I remember was that this cancer can spread to other vital organs in the abdominal cavity and it it gets to one of those and grows too large for the surgeon to remove it without compromising the organ, and I dont have 2 of them (meaning the kidneys) "Im screwed". His words made me sit up and pay attention. I go every 3 months for the inhibin testing and each year Im to have a ct. So far I have had 4 cts and I go for another next month. Im sure that I would glo under a black light!! I have only had so many due to complications. I will have to ask wen I go to see the dr if this conditin is "fatal" to see what he says. I'll let you know.
