Lump on neck

Hi, I am really worried about a small lump i have on the side of my neck. It is just below my ear round the side of my neck. I have had it for about 6-8 months now. It may be longer but i hadnt noticed it. I went to my GP about it and he took blood tests to see if it was cancer. He said my results were normal and not to worry. He also told me that it should go away and if not to contact him again. Im almost afraid of going back again because the first time he scared me. I notice that sometimes it gets itchy especially when i touch it and feels like a squashed pea lying just under the skin and i can move it. If it is not lymphoma or cancer what could it be. The GP seemed a bit baffled and he said it was not a cyst. I have hayfever and some mild allergies to dust and i also suffer from some eczema from time to time.Could it be my lypmh nodes swelling up when i irritate my allergies.I am very confused and worried. Im afraid that maybe it is cancer and the blood test was wrong. Any suggestions. Any info will be most appreciated.

I dont want to scare you but my husband had a lump on his neck as well. Blood Results came back normal, but he dr had him go for a CT scan which showed something abnormal. We had to go to an ENT for a biopsy but he ended up having squamous cell carcinoma and is currently receiving treatment. It could be nothing, it could be something; If I were you, I would make an appointment with an ENT to have this looked at.

Hi,I would be wanting a scan at least or even better a biopsy, blood tests can come back fine, its been there a long time, I understand you being scared but dont let fear hold you back from getting to the bottom of this problem, better to sort things out like this as fast as possible.Take care and let us know how you go.Michaela

RE: Lump on neck

I'm 20 years old and for the past year I've discovered lumps on the bast of my hairline, by my chin, and some in my head. At first my family physician gave me amoxicillin to see if the lumps would decrease in size and two did, however I just had one surgically removed and the ENT surgeon who performed the surgery said that the lump was benign, however he isn't quite sure of it's cause and I might discover others in the future. Best bet, get it checked out. I didn't want to go at first, but thanks to a paranoid yet persistent mother, I went to the doctor. If you're older, your chances of it being more serious increase. Please see a doctor so you'll at least have some peace of mind.
