I was treated for stage 4 tonsillar cancer on the right side with chemo and radiation only - no surgery. My Dr. at Sloan Kettering (who is one of the best) advised that they stopped doing the routine neck dissections around 3 years ago. I also consulted with an excellent Dr. at Dana Farber who said the same thing. My last treatment was 12/7/04 and so far, so good.
