Sister was doing better

Well, just as soon as I post something positive, I get a call from my sister L who is the primary care giver of my sister A who has GBM IV. Her MRI did come out clear as far as a recurrence of the tumor. However, she is in the hospital for surgery of a complete hysterectomy and bladder restructure. Sister L, is very much like Jill is right now with caring for her father. She is exhausted and very emotional. Sister L knows that when sister A is released that she is in for a long recovery time with sister A. Sister L has placed her own life on hold to care for our sister A. I told sister L about this site and about all of the wonderful people who are dealing with the same situation. I told her I would be giving her the link to this site and to vent her concerns to all of you. This is our support system and for me, its been a God send. I'm sure it will be for her. Sister L, you are not alone. We are all going through the same thing. I hope you find this site as helpful as I have.Love Amy

RE: Sister was doing better

Amy,I'm so sorry about your sister's setback. I think we forget that other health issues can occur when your dealing w/cancer. I hope the surgery goes OK and she recovers quickly. Does your sister know what's going on? I seen from your other thread that her short term memory and speech is very bad. Sounds like my dad and sometimes he gets angry with me because I think he doesn't know something, but he really does and I just didn't make the right guess. I really feel these boards help me as a caregiver and also just to sort out the feelings that you have watching a loved one suffer through this. I hope your other sister does join in. Again, I'm sorry your sister had to endure another surgery. My thoughts are with you and your family.Jill

Reply to Jill

You Jill, I believe that God works in mysterious ways. I got on the message board yesterday because it had been a while. I have been reading this board and trying to find answers and/or companionship with others going through the same thing for a year now. Your message really touched me. So, I replied with as many encouraging words that I could find for you as I could feel your hurt and frustration. Unbeknowst to me, I get home last night and my sister, Linda, called and she was in exactly the same frame of mind as you were when you posted your message. I talked to her for an hour on the phone trying to find words to comfort her as well.Sister, Arlene, is still in the hospital as of yesterday, heavily sedated. I don't believe she knows whats going on right now really. This has been difficult for our family as I know it is for yours.I told Linda about you and your message and that she should join because, really, its Linda who is there with sister, Arlene, day-to-day. I did email her this morning with your kinds words.God gives each other to help us through and that is the blessing of this site.My prayers are with you.Amy
