3 Tesla MRI

Has anyone had an MRI on this type machine and did you get to look at the images? My dad had one on Thursday and we don't meet with the radiation oncologist until this coming Wednesday to get the results. We got a copy of the images and there isn't any additional tumors that are obvious to our untrained eye but this MRI is much more detailed and there is a black circle showing on three of the middle MRI images in almost the center of Dad's existing tumor. Has anyone seen anything like this? I knew what to look for on the old MRI but this one is so detailed that I just don't get what a black spot. I looked at his previous MRI and the spot is there but smaller and not as dark.We were going to wait to see the report until we saw the dr. but Dad and I have decided to go Monday morning to get the report. We didn't want to find out if it was bad alone but we're both obsessed with it and figure we'll have more time to come up with questions if it is bad.God bless you all!

RE: 3 Tesla MRI

My wife has had several T-3 MRIs. Some scan modes show her original tumor cavity as a black circle. It is simply where CS Fluid is filling the void. The degree of black looks similar to the ventricle cavities, which are also filled with CSF. In other scan modes, I believe this same cavity looks white, possibly the ones with contrast, but I can't recall. We get an extra copy of all her scans on disc and add them to our personal files, in case we ever have to share this information with another medical team, it's in our back pocket. Occasionally we look at the scans ourselves at home, after our neuro-oncologist has reviewed them with us. We are lucky in that each time my wife gets a scan, we immediately see the doctor and he reads them right away, so we are not left waiting days for some one to tell us the results. I can't imagine how frustrating that would be. It sounds like you are pretty pro-active with everything, that is good. Just don't drive yourselves into a panic by guessing at what the MRIs show. All the best.
