painful fingers and hands

My fingers and hands have started to hurt. A type of arthritic pain. I wondered if anyone else has experienced this. I'm wondering if it is from the Temodar or just chemo in general. A friend of mine who has had breast cancer said her hands and feet hurt. My feet and toes hurt a little, but not like my fingers and hands.Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has had this.Thank you and God Bless,Denise

RE: painful fingers and hands

Hi Denise,I am sorry you are experiencing this pain. I am just finishing my 17th round of Temodar, and for the past few months I have been experiencing hand and finger pain as well as foot, ankle and toe pain. It is like the bones in palms of my hands and the bottom of my feet hurt as well as the joints of fingers and toes. It seems to come and go, sometimes worse than others. I, too, wondered if it is a side effect of the Temodar. Would like to hear from others who may be experiencing this. Thanks and God Bless you all,Kathy

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that ya'll are having painful fingers and hands. I have this as well; however, I have not taken the same chemo that ya'll mentioned you have taken. I was on Tomaxifen for 3 1/2 years then changed to Femara. I've been on Femara for about 1 year now. The pain in my hands and fingers didn't start until I began taking the Femara. I sometimes get pain in my toes as well, but not nearly as often or as badly as in my hands and fingers. I thought that perhaps it was related to the Femara and was hoping that it would get better when I come off the Femara. Hopefully someone will read our posts and give us some advice. In the meanwhile, I will be praying for ya'll.Sincerely,Penny

OMG you guys! My mom recently started having this problem!!!!!! It started nearly 3-4wks ago. She was on Pravacol for cholesterol - being a statin drug, this is potentially a side effect (even if one has taken for a while). So we discontinued that. Its been at least 2-2 1/2wks. I don't think she's getting much better. It seems the worst in the am upon awakening - she can't grip a coffee cup she's in so much pain. To reach up & get a cereal box out of the cupboard also kills her! She has to take a Norco just to get some relief. She had 400mg Temodar in Feb. (way too high dose for her - WBC/plt's bottomed out). She was just able to get another Temodar round in this month (280mg) and she did better. This symptom developed a week or so before she started this last round!Let me know if anyone has answers about this!!!!Nikki
