Temador prescription question

Hi all,I am seeking information as to how everyone is getting their Temador prescriptions. For the 1st 15 rounds, I picked mine up at the local pharmacy. Then I got a letter from my insurer that to continue the med at the current co-pay, I would have to start getting it thru the mail from THEIR prescription facility. It actually comes by UPS. I have taken the last 2 cycles from them.My question to any of you using this way of receiving your meds, have you noticed any difference in the side effects during or after treatment? Or do you have any comments or questions about this?Thank you all and I hope you have a very blessed Sunday! Peace,Kathy

It really upset me that they denied the Temodar without letting us know until I went to pick up at the pharmacy. My pharmacy is really very good and it was not their fault. They have to order the Temodar and I pick it up the next day. Anyway, our school district insurance coordinator contacted CareMarx and they did an over-ride so I can still pick my meds up at the pharmacy. Sending by UPS would not work where I live. When my dosage was changed, I had the same problem because they couldn't figure out it was the same situation only a change in dosage! I don't think the side effects would be changed by receiving your meds this way unless temperature changes occur???Best to you and God bless,Denise

hi Kathy,My husband gets his Temodar from a specilty pharmacy, delivered by fed ex, also.It took a week of fighting his insurance company and the pharmacy to get his meds taken care of under his major medical portion of his policy. So he started his chemo a week late and then 4 1/2 weeks into his treatment i discovered the pharmacy wrote the wrong instructions on the bottles. Lesson learned...get a copy of the script from the doctor and compare it with the one on the bottles...always ask questions if something doesn't seem right!Any how I hope you are doing well on the Temodar. My prayers are with you and everyone else facing this disease,Eve

Medco pharmacy owned by UHC did the same thing to us and I demanded that they overnight the med's to us at their expense I was absolutely livid and let them have in no uncertain terms it was a 2 1/2 phone call fight but I won apparently there is money in that med--big time it is irritating beyond words what they are putting us all through.

I had the same problem with temador. The first months prescription was filled by our local Rite Aid. My copay was $2600. I now get my monthly dose from "committment to care" free! They send to my home via Fed Ex. The social worker at my cancer center took care of it all. This drug made me so sick. The anti nasua drugs they gave me did not work. I now use Zofran and this makes the chemo tolerable. In the beginning I often wondered what was worse? the cancer or the cure? I am now in the middle of my 18th stage. It must be working, my cancer is in remission. My oncologist is useing me as an example of their successes. I WILL SURVIVE! Bruce,

Hi: We were asked to do this as well. The medication was the same and always came on time . I beleive the only reason the insurance company asked this is that they get a much better discount when buying direct from the manufacturer. For us, the medicine was the same exact product we were getting from the local pharmacy. My best to you and your family. C
