Stage Four Cervical Cancer

Hi-
My best friend of 25 years was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer last year. It has spread to her liver and her spine. I am desprately looking for a survivor who could provide support and a glimmer of hope.

Stage 4 Cervical

Hello
I have recurrent stage 3 cervical cancer and am scheduled for a pelvic exenteration. I have done a lot of research on the web and feel that your friend should follow her doctors advise but look for alternative treatments in addition to her normal doctor. I have found several of these facilities, ( the oasis of Hope in Mexico) the issels treatment in San diego and one in the bahamas) a search using these terms will bring up results. God bless your friend

Stage iv Cervical Cancer and Hope

I have been dealing with Stage IV cervical cancer (adenocarcinoma) since December 2002. Very briefly, I thought I was in remission, but a subsequent scan showed metastases to the lungs. I've had surgery and 6 more months of chemotherapy. My tumors continue to grow in number and size. Right now, I'm getting high dose IV vitamin C and taking numerous oral supplements, and I'm scheduled for another CT next week.

BUT, in spite of it all, I am currently living a great life. I've had lots of time to think about not surviving this cancer and to feel hopeless. It only takes time and energy away from what I have right now. Be here now and savor this time. Who knows, it may go on for a long long time. Savor it anyway. I know this is easier to say than to do, and certainly I have days where I still cry a lot.

So, don't let go of hope -- just be more open to what you hope for. Hope for joy and peace and wonderful times together. Hope that your friend isn't in pain and can enjoy her life. Hope for strength to accompany her on this long journey.

Bless you both. Christy

i Need Answers

I had my first abnormal pap smear in the late spring of 2005. I then had a colposcopy followed by a LEEP. After my leep my doctor told me it was worse than they originally thought and they were unable to get all suspicious cells. He also told me that the ones left were this highest grade of precancerous cells. After my LEEP I had intermittent fevers for 2 weeks and each time my doctor told me to stay at home and wait until the fevers were over 103 degrees before worrying. I haven't had fevers since September now, but I have had spotting between periods and I bleed really bad everytime I have sex with my boyfriend. We stopped sleeping together because of this for the last month because it just kept getting worse. I also have had random abdominal pains and I am not sure if they are related to what is going on. I haven't been diagnosed with cancer yet and I only recently regained health insurance so I am not sure what to do. I do have another pap smear scheduled on Jan. 16th, but it is with a new doctor (as I recently moved to a new state) who is unfamiliar with everything I have been going through for the last 6 months. I am afraid that the cells are progressing faster than usual and I am being treated improperly because doctors are going by the books. Can someone give me advice??

Worried About Cervical Cancer

Go to a gynecologic oncologist for your next exam. Don't wait until January if you don't have to. They can do the pap as well as a biopsy, if they deem it necessary. Don't wait around. I had many of the same symptoms. I wish I'd gone sooner.

Good luck. Don't delay.

Question For Christy

Christy - I read your posting here about your lung recurrence. How are you doing? Are you on any more chemo?
