Mucus

I never really had the mucus problem as bad as many during my radiation. I met a great navy seal when I was at MD Anderson as he was starting his treatment shortly after mine. He is really struggling w/ the mucus thing REALLY bad.I need some tips for him from the people that really struggled w/ it.Thanks,Rick

Hi Rick,I read on the Squamous Cell board here at CancerCompass that the patched they give you for sea sickness work well. Worth a try.

Hi Rick,Good day to you! I read 3 weeks ago about the patch from this site matter of fact. Transderm Spoc. My mucous was and had been horrible. I mentioned it to my Internal Med doctor and he said sure, it does not hurt to try. It seems to have been working pretty well. It has changed enough for me to keep using them. It is about 85% better. You wear them behind the ear for 3 days at a time. Also, I wash my sinus out with extra warm salty water. Lean over sink at a 45 degree angle, run it through the side nostril is up, it will go up in there and come out the other side. then I try very hard to cough it up or blow it out the nose real hard and it helps take that sticky stuff out too for a while. I might do it 3-4 if more times a day. It might help you thorough the day! Good Luck-Patricia

the stuff is relentless...make sure you don't have an infection, but after head and neck radiation it seems to be cronic although it does slow down, my naturopath has me using a netti pot, it does help and it does take some getting used too, but i have been doing it every nite for a few years. it just washes the gunk out and keeps things flowing free...i like it too because i think it helped me to stay free of the flu, after being around alot of people i use it to wash. it is a great thing...good luck
