I am very thankful!My husband was DX'ed Nov 26, 2007 of Esophagus cancer. He completed chemo and radiation with hopes of surgery. Feb 08 we went for the pre-op stuff, and the surgeon came in, chin hanging down and said there is NO surgery! He stated the liver lit up like a christmas tree. We were shocked, as we were told that this type of cancer shouldnt spread while on treatment. My husband chose no further treatment, due to it made him deathly sick. It is now April 08, and I see him going down hill fast. Each day he is weaker, and less talkative.He is throwing up more and more every day. He can't eat, he sleeps alot, his stomach is huge. He had a hard time urinating yesterday, but finally went. The pain meds all make him throw up.My questions, which I will only ask a couple?1. Is this a sign he's getting closer, and if so is there anyone who can tell me (about) how long?2. Will his liver just shut down or will there be signs of it failing?3. Could somethingelse shut down before the liver?Hospice has been great, but they really don't discuss him dying. They want him comfortable and positive. I could write a book on what I've been through with my husband and this awful disease. I pray one day soon they will find a cure, so people won't have to suffer. Thank you for any information you might be able to give me.God Bless everyone sweetbabegirl Wed, 30 Apr 2008 00:00:00 GMT My father-in-law is in the final stages of Stage IV liver and stomach cancer.    He was told in October that he had maybe 3 months to live. He, too, chose no treatment because of so many of his friends having gone through this and being so very sick.  Well, he hunted all season (through January 31st) and when hunting season was over, he started going downhill.   He began to look jaundiced and by the end of March, he was so yellow, even the whites of his eyes just glowed.  The doctors told my mother-in-law that was a sign of his liver failing.  He just felt tired all of the time and by the end of April, he was sleeping all the time and eating very little.  He is still hanging on and it is so very sad to see him like he is.  He was a very vibrant, outgoing person that would have rather been in the woods with his sons than anywhere else.    He doesn't throw up because there is nothing in his stomach but he does have a lot of heartburn and stays very nauseated.   Hospice gave him Meranol (I may not be spelling it right) which I was told was a marijuana pill to help with the nausea and to give him an appetite.   It worked at first but it seems like he has a hard time swallowing now.   That could be from him being dehydrated.   I am so sorry to hear about your husband.  This is a very cruel disease and I hate that anyone has to go through it.  I will be praying for you and your family.  1stdaughterinlaw Thu, 08 May 2008 00:00:00 GMT  On 4/30/2008 sweetbabegirl wrote:Let me start by saying this site has helped me in so many ways.
