Has anyone else had this happen to them? Osborne Sat, 03 May 2008 00:00:00 GMT I have been taking avastin for 20 months and balance was changed during treatment but no greatly, I don't know if Avastin accelerated problem or not. I had some balance problems before Avastin so any advance could be a natural progression. My balance problems are minor. I take time on steps and walk at sedate pace. No more running/jogging or walking at a fast pace. I can still chew gum while I walk and also carry on a conversation. I now have a desk job and no longer am able to carry a firearm at work (21 years as US Customs & Border Protection Officer) . I hope helps. I recently woke up with vertigo that my doctor said was caused by labyrinthitis, an infection of the middle ear that throws off your balance. It's unpleasant, but it goes away with time. If you haven't yet reported this to the neuro-oncologist I would as it might be a neurological symptom. Patients with labyrinthitis can be given Antivert to mask the vertigo.
