He has been off the drug for 2 weeks with no plans to take it again due to severe side effects.  He developed a severe sore throat (blisters). His red blood cell count dropped dramatically, leaving him so weak that he was essentially bedridden. A blood transfusion has helped elevate his red blood cells. Does anyone know how long it takes for the sore throat to resolve once the Sutent has been discontinued? Any information would be greatly appreciated!Thank you. HealthQuestions Sun, 04 May 2008 00:00:00 GMT I would recommend talking with his doctors about reducing the size of the dose. The max is 50mg daily but I found my side effects were much less of a problem going to 37.5mg.
