I had robotic prostate surgery 2 weeks ago. I own a restaurant which requires many hrs of standing. Sitting is okay but I really leak standing. Is it to soon to expect minimul leakage?

Jim, I can't speak for myself, but my brother went through the robotic operation last year. He wore the adult diapers for roughly 2 weeks and was done with them. I would be guessing as to the speed of each persons recovery rate and muscule control. He was sore for a bit longer after the operation. He is a year out from his operation. His PSA levels have remained low, so he hasn't had to do any Radiation. Take Care

Is it to soon to expect minimul leakage?I had robotic surgery in June '06. I was 73 and overweight, and generally out of condition due to knee problems (my excuse). Pre operatively I was told to do pelvic floor exercises, I felt my abdominal muscels could be toned up, so I did sit ups for a number of weeks twice daily. Post operatively I continued with the pelvic floor exercises. I was incontinent for eight days after the catheter was removed, by which time I would gladly have had it back. However, I decided to ''toilet train myself''. The first day I made it four times, the second six, by which time I was continent, but continued the exercises, quality is better than quantity - I now have no problems.Keep at the exercises, and try "toilet training", decide you are going to go, and try stopping in mid flow occasionally. You will get there.Good luck,K.D.

Is it to soon to expect minimul leakage? You will have a hard time getting this totally under control, but after 6 to 7 months I had it down to sneezing, coughing and laughing to hard. There is hope, but it takes time and excercise the bladder to build up the muscle at the opening. If I don't drink coffee, I can go for hours without needing to go or leak. Caffine of any type makes it harder to control. The first 3 to 4 weeks I had a very difficult time of controlling any urine, but believe me it will get better. Richard

Is it to soon to expect minimul leakage?Jimmy i had the same surgery on Dec 12th 2006 it had been 17 months to the day (today is may12 2008) i still have some problems when i laugh or just when i have to urinate bad. Each day has gotten easier for me and i am sure with more time things will return to normal for you. I took eight weeks off when i had surgery but i understand you own your business, just rest when you get time and just give it more time, TAKE CARE KEN IN OHIO
