CancerCompass message board discussion started by Grahame on 5/5/2008 http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,23764,0.htm Thu, 24 Jul 2008 00:00:00 GMT Thu, 24 Jul 2008 00:00:00 GMT http://backend.userland.com/rss RSS.NET: http://www.rssdotnet.com/ Hi Everyone,This is my first posting but felt compelled to put my feelings into a message board for feedback as my wife Jane is battling with Stage 4 Malignant Melonoma which has metastisized from the initial leg tumor to her Lymph nodes in the groin and her lungs.After lengthy surgery to remove the leg tumor and lymph nodes the scans have revealed that she has 2 tumors on her lungs.I feel so desperately sad watching her struggle daily with this, as I am in the dark as to what will happen next.. Timescales etc ? I, like most people have spent what feels like thousands of hours researching for a miracle cure, but as we are now finding out, the Chemo doesn't seem to be making any difference-in fact I now think that she is worse after 2 cycles of treatment as she has developed a severe cough with continual breathlessness and extreme tiredness !.We have tried so many different "alternative remedies" ever since we found out about the cancer spreading to her lungs. I feel hopeless watching her struggle to cope with the recovery of her large leg wound knowing that the tumors spreading onto her lungs are slowly getting worse. Sadly, we never seem to get any positive news from the Oncologist and I would love to hear from other sufferers/carers who are  struggling to come to terms with the reality of MM.My thoughts go out to all who are living with this terrible cancer. Grahame Mon, 05 May 2008 00:00:00 GMT I'm so sorry to hear of the suffering of your wife.  I don't know where you live but would suggest that you take her to M D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX for treatment.  My sister also has metastatic melanoma in her lymph nodes (groin/breast/armpit) and got bio-chemo therapy there and she is in complete remission.  The groin tumor has shrunk completely and the others are gone.  If you would like to contact my sister for further information, I will give you her e-mail address. Don't give up yet. Narn Narnie Tue, 06 May 2008 00:00:00 GMT Sorry Narn, apologies I meant to say MD Anderson CC in Houton, TX-Not Pittsburgh-Brain not too sharp at the moment !!Kindest regardsGrahame Grahame Tue, 06 May 2008 00:00:00 GMT Dear Narn,Would be very grateful for your sisters e-mail to enable me to persue all options to try and get my wife into remission !Kindest regardsGrahame Grahame Tue, 06 May 2008 00:00:00 GMT Yup, my wife had one on her back that went to a lymph node then to her lung.  All tumors were surgically removed.  The lung tumor was removed by thorascopic resection of the right middle lobe.  Hope your wife tumors can be removed too.  She did the Interferon for a year before the lung tumors.  This time she is trying Leukine.  Her spirits are high though and recovery was quick and that helps I think.  We worry but if anyone asks she says that she is pretending like she doesn't have cancer at least til the next scan or doctor visit.  DIfferent people cope in different ways.  Me, I study about it and learn what I can.  Blessings and luck to you and your wife.  clintandmelinda Fri, 18 Jul 2008 00:00:00 GMT
