HI, My husband was jaundis, they put 2 stints in the bile duck. We had test done at home and found out he needed a Whipple Procedure. We were sent to Mass. General in Boston, Mass. A phenominal Dr. Fernandez id the operation. The Whipple Procedure consisted of taking the bile duct, tumor ontop ofhe pancreas, 40% of the pancreas, part of the stomach and 31 lymph nodes. He had cancer in the Bile Duct, tumor on top of the pancreas and 2 out of the 31 lymph nodes. Because cancer was in even 2 lymph nodes he started with chemo. then radiation and then back to chemo. and finsihed the end of Feb. My husband has favored ok from this operation. Things do taste different at times. It is hard for him to eat smaller meals more frquently. But for what he has gone through he is doing remarkably well. We are so thankful for being sent to Dr. Fernandez, phenomial Dr. and hospital. He was in the hospial for 10 days. He did end up getting an infection at one end of the incision site. We ended up having to have visiting nurses come for awhile. But he did remarkably well. Oh, with the Whipple they also took my husbands gall bladder. If I can help with anything else just let me know.
