wanna do something good?

Many of you have seen my posts on this board, I guess I'm known a bit. I'm a tonsil cancer survivor out of treatment for 2 1/2 months. I made a promise to God during treatment that when able I would do some things differently in my life. One was to help those in need, especially children w/ cancer. There are many wonderful charities out there, all great. But since I am a retired race car driver, I went in that direction. Speedway Children's Charity is a national non-profit organization totally dedicated to helping children. Their website is www.speedwaycharities.org. They have chapters all over the country, tied to NASCAR race tracks. Atlanta, Bristol, Texas, Charlotte, Las Vegas, etc. You can find the chapter nearest you by going to their website. I am now an ambassador for the Las Vegas Chapter. www.scclasvegas.org One of my conditions of agreeing to becoming involved is that 100% of the money I am part of raising goes to charities that support children w/ cancer. For those wishing to donate, you can either donate to your local chapter, or you can donate to the Las Vegas Chapter and if you write on the check dedicated to children w/ cancer. I can promise you, your money will go to children's cancer charities like www.nvccf.org especially if you send it to the Las Vegas chapter. Adresses are listed on the website. If you like, you can reference my name on a sticky note or something. Rick Anderson. The person in charge of the Las Vegas Chapter is a great lady, Janae Melvin. We have our annual golf tourney June 2nd here in Las Vegas and again, anyone wanting to donate to helping that event can do so as well. Again, Speedway Children's Charity helps kids in need. Not just kids w/ cancer, and I know all these kids need and deserve it. But, I have chosen to focus on kids w/ cancer for obvious reasons. No amount is to small. Thanks and God Bless.Rick

That's a great idea, Rick!Another way of helping is just to be active here. I find a great deal of satisfaction trying to help people along the road I so recently traveled. It's good for me, good for you all. A win-win situation. My wife (another cancer survivor) and I are planning on participating in some of the cancer awareness/fund raising activities around here also. Let's just say we have a new appreciation for these kinds of things.Mike
