RE: metastasis colon cancer

Hi,My brother had the same but mainly spread to the liver and was told he was terminal. I took him to my oncologist Dr David Bell, Royal North Shore Hospital Sydney, Australia and he put him on a new Chemo on trial from Merk Drug co. TUX for short think full name is Ebertux. This is mixed with conventional chemo and he has had remarkable results. it has swiped out totally all the small metastasis leaving a only one tumour and his CEA levels went from 4000 down to 800 in two weeks. So from having months to live he is still going 18months later.Dr Bell has been using this treatment for the 5years it has been out with great results. The good thing is my brother has had none of the really bad side effects like nausea only tired for 2 days and the sore mouth.Hope this is of some use.Regards

You have no idea how your message helped- was told yesterday that my husband's colon cancer/liver metasteses was terminal - and that chemo wd be unlikely to help - he is so healthy at the moment it is hard to believe he has been told he has 12 months. Please let me know how your brother progresses.
Regards

RE: metastasis colon cancer

Hi Heather,My brother was given exactly the same message from his oncologist in New zealand...not even a year to live...months...just go away a seek palative care. He also was healthy. As I also had Colon cancer and recovered due to the fact in Australia the treatment is a resection and then 6 months of chemo just incase any small cells have floated off and may settle in the liver (ther next favourite place). My brother on the other hand (exactly the same dukes C exactly the same spot as me, had the resection and in NZ they don't follow up with chemo...say you don't need to. Guess what 1 year later it's in his liver. After getting his awful message in NZ I called my Oncologist here..Sydney, and he said get him over and admitted he was in bad shape with cancer spreading madly. But with the Tux mixed with Orangitican (spelling in probably incorrect) he's had these remarkable results. Some Drs only give the TUX and my Oncologists said it's essential to give the both...actually Merk Drug Co won't let you on the trial unless that procedure is followed.I spoke with my brother yesterday and he's still going well chemo every week....I arranged for him after being here 4 months, to go home and continue the treatment there. Can you imagine how his oncologist in NZ reacted...you should be dead...maybe there's something in this and is now his best friend! Probably write a paper on how he saved him!The other chemo you mentioned is highly aggressive and at one stage the Dr's in NZ gave it to him and it nearly killed him...lost all the feeling in his hands and was so ill. On this mixture now his is great. One side effect of TUX is you get a rash...like acne which is a good sign shows it's working.Good luck and press the Dr's to give Tux and the other mixture. Why not check on the net under Merk drug Co.My Oncologist in Australia who is using this all the time is Dr David Bell, Royal North Shore Hospital, St Leonards, Sydney (02)99267044. He's a real gentle soul.Take care and get well wishesMargaret
