I was told that it was okay since my RAI levels were where they were supposed to be when i was released from the hospital. I live about 30 minutes from the hospital. I understand exactly what your hesitancy is. I was also given nausea meds prior to receiving treatment. Also i was given nausea meds prior to taking the pills for the treatment. We live about 20 minutes from the hospital.I just got out of isolation today, Saturday.  RAI was a cinch.  My husband drove me and sat with me while it was administered.  I wanted to make sure he heard all of the instructions.  I took the pill and they told me to leave.  I sat in the back seat of his van, got home and went to my master suite until this morning. (72 hrs)  I felt nothing; no nausea, no headaches, nothing.  I'm a little tired by the end of the day, but that's probably this LID rather than the RAI.  But I would wish someone would answer "Life after RAI".  I'd like to hear how others handled themselves.Donna dinparadise Sat, 10 May 2008 00:00:00 GMT Glad to hear you're out of isolation . When did they say you can go off the LID and start the meds again.I never went off of my meds.  I ended up being approved for the Thyrogen.  That may be why I didn't have any side effects.  I go off of the LID on Wednesday after my WBS.  I can't wait!!!!  You're timing was about the same as mine, wasn't it?  How has yours gone?  Even though they have "let me out", I skeptical about what I should and shouldn't do until Wednesday.  It can be a scarey thing.  What instruction did you receive? dinparadise Sun, 11 May 2008 00:00:00 GMT I'm not scheduled to go in until May 16th for the tracer dose and then the following Tuesday for the big dose. I still have to find out what my levels are first to see if I am hypothyroid enough. Aside from being a little tired this past week I really haven't experienced the hypo hell that I've heard so much about. I'm starting to think that my thyroid has probably not been working adequately for some time and I've somehow grown accustomed to feeling tired. Perhaps if I had already been on medication the hypo period would have been much harder to go through.My endo is conservative so after the first week or so she said to limit my time around others and stay about 3 feet away. I do know that Sloan Kettering is much more relaxed about their restrictions. Sterling Sun, 11 May 2008 00:00:00 GMT I took the pill (100 mci) and was immediately sent home.  I drove myself, felt fine.  By the time I was getting RAI I was so hypo I couldn't tell what was from RAI and what wasn't (except the sore salivary glands) but I didn't have anymore than the vague nausea from being hypo.  I hear other people get sick with RAI but I sure didn't.  I actually spent my isolation time (first 4 days post pill as I had a 8 month old son) painting my front porch.
